Welcome to the Pinecone Wanderings!
This is new home of Pinecone Wanderings, where you'll become inspired to head out on your next adventure - at the coziest bookstore in town or the coolest hike in your state.

Before I left to begin my 2023 Northbound thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail I deleted my blog PineconeWanderings.com. It wasn’t an easy decision but after getting bogged down with work, art, personal life, and personal conflictions about some of the things I was sharing, it felt like the best move.
Now that I have completed my dream of thru-hiking the AT, I’ve been drawn back into sharing my adventures through writing. Throughout my 2000+ mile adventure, I documented the trip through photos and long Instagram captions. This has made me realize that I miss sharing my story, the hidden towns I’ve discovered, the best treats, my favorite gear, and of course, the best hiking trails.
In an effort to have a spot to share my words once again, I am joining Substack. While I enjoyed having my own website, I want to spend more time writing and creating fun content as opposed to managing a site. Substack is different from a traditional “blog” and this format excites me and allows me to get back to what I love best.
There are many reasons why I deleted my blog, but one in particular is that I always felt the pressure to pick a niche and stick to it. I know all the experts say that’s what you're supposed to do and my Social Media Manager background agrees but I want my space to be more than a single niche. I am not a niche, I don’t have a singular interest (although I am obviously obsessed with hiking), I am a multifaceted woman and this Substack and my content will reflect that. Every other week I’ll be sharing my latest adventures, the cutest small town I’ve explored recently, backpacking tips, my favorite gear, the treats I’ve been drooling over, books that inspire me, planning my RunDisney costume, and of course, hikes in all the best places. These topics may ebb and flow as I ebb and flow, but I believe that’s the beauty of this new space.
At the time of penning this welcome newsletter, my Substack is available to all for the cost of nothing but the enjoyment of reading it. This may change in the future as creating content and writing, while incredibly enjoyable and rewarding tasks, will not fund my next adventure.
My hope is that these PineconeWanderings will inspire or help you to plan your next adventure!
Thanks for being here, I can’t wait to wander with you!
